Drinkable Water from Urine, possible ?
Hi guys, greetings welcome to technstuff.in, today i am going to tell you about a Solar-Powered Machine that can turns drinkable water from urine. It sounds strange right? So let’s see is it really possible?
Yeah! A Solar-Powered machine is built by the Scientists of Belgium University that can actually turn Urine into a healthy minerally Drinkable Water. The Scientists of University deployed it on occasion of 10 day festival in Belgium. A 1,000 litres is the volume of unconsumable water recovered from the urine of the people gathered at the festival, which was a success experiment according to Scientists. What to do with this amount of water recovered? After decided that to make Belgian beer using the recovered water.
How the filtering or conversion is carried out:
All the water which is recovered is through a process they call as membrane distillation which removes the huge 95% of ammonia present in the urine. The waste is removed as ammonia and the remaining liquid is stored in the huge tank which is further heated in a Solar Powered boiler. The heated liquid then gets into another process in which it passes through the membrane, this membrane has function to separate the water and the nutrients(nitrogen and potassium). Fertilizers can be produced from the separated nutrients, wow this is an useful machine.
The Scientists, advised to use this system in different places. The 10 day festival was another thing the main goal is to implement this system at large scales, larger versions of this solar powered machines could be installed at airports, railway stations, sports venues etc. This system could also be installed in rural areas with shortage of proper water supply- Scientists says.
So what do you guys think, is this a good idea? Should this is a necessary step to take in developing world? Would you agree to have glass of this water? I don’t think this in wrong way.
